The Odžaklija Church is a unique religious building in the Balkans, with a narrow door so that the Ottomans could not enter with horses, which they normally did. Its symbol is the chimney, which has stood for centuries and defied time, just as the Serbs defied the invaders. The original temple dates back to the first half of the 19th century, and there is a legend that the resourceful Leskov residents reported that they were “building a house for the priest” instead of a temple. The Odžaklija church was placed under the protection of the state in 1948 and is a cultural monument. Within the church gate there is also an old church dedicated to the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin or Little Lady, which is a unique example of a construction project. The restoration of the temple was completed in 1992. This church has become the spiritual core of the people of Leskov and a monumental religious building that reminds us of the ingenuity of our ancestors.
