The Church Svete Trojice in Leskovac is an Orthodox shrine that stands out for its style and beauty. It was built between the two world wars in less than 10 years, from the crypt to the dome, with painting.
The idea to build a temple was born after the liberation from the Turks, when there were no large buildings in Leskovac, and the “Odžaklija” church was low. The people of Leskov decided to build a big temple, to show that the town is Christian.
Sreten Dinić was the first to present this idea, he presented it to the city authorities and was the coordinator between the church and city authorities. However, the Balkan wars broke out, then the First World War, which hindered construction.
Although over the decades it was obscured by socialist residential buildings and even in later times something resembling the wall of the “Hole” plateau on Široka Čaršia, the Cathedral Church of the Holy Trinity still dominates the center and is still, along with “Odžaklija”, a symbol of the city on Veternica .#crkvasvetetrojice #leskovac #sharebalkan
